The Falcon F50 is a classic British 2-way ported stand mount speaker, deploying matched pairs of Falcon 5” B110 woofers and customized SEAS 19mm tweeters.

The carefully chosen drive units blended together with a handmade natural wood veneered Italian cabinet produces a speaker capable of superb sonic quality with surprising bass extension, typical Falcon precise imaging, smooth response and excellent sound stage.

This classic small British loudspeaker uses well-established design principles with a 5” woofer and ¾” tweeter. The format of a rear-ported 5” bass unit (in this case naturally the famous Falcon B110) and a ¾” dome tweeter is well known to produce excellent results from smaller cabinets.

The Falcon F50 is the result of a long conversation between Falcon’s Jerry Bloomfield and Graeme Bridge who undertakes Falcon’s’ loudspeaker systems design.

“We wanted to make a small rear-ported speaker using a 5” bass unit and a ¾” dome tweeter – it’s a classic combination, it works well, and we inevitably starting looking at similar systems that had been made throughout the years”, says Jerry.

“I worked with Stewart Tyler of ProAc for 16 years, says Graeme. “Stewart very sadly passed in June 2021, he was really important to me, he taught me everything I knew about loudspeaker design at the beginning of my career.  We spent hours and hours in the evenings working together, voicing and refining loudspeakers, and exploring new developments in loudspeaker design”

There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t remember Stewart with gratitude and affection”

“So I suggested we do an homage to Stewart, it was something I wanted to do, the Tablette 50 was the first speaker I built at ProAc in 1996 just after I started there. It’s a classic small British loudspeaker and uses well-established design principles with a 5” woofer and ¾” tweeter.  So, Jerry and I agreed we would build a small number of speakers based upon the same format of a rear-ported 5” bass unit (in this case naturally the famous Falcon B110) and a ¾” dome tweeter. We have used the same SEAS 19TFF tweeter, it’s still made and it does exactly what it says on the tin”

“And that’s how the F50 evolved” says Jerry.  “We’ve limited the number to 50 pairs which are going to be available to North American customers only, and we hope people enjoy them”
